Recent advances in dynamic covalent bond-based shape memory polymers

Abstract Dynamic covalent bond-based shape memory polymers (DCB-SMPs) are one of most important SMPs which have a wide potential application prospect. Different from common strong bonds, DCBs own relatively weak bonding energy, similarly to the supramolecular interactions noncovalent and can dynamically combine dissociate these bonds. DCB-SMP solids, be designed respond for different stimuli, provide excellent self-healing, good reprocessability, high mechanical performance, because obtain dynamic cross-linking without sacrificing ultrahigh fixing rates. Furthermore, besides hydrogels with responsiveness various stimuli also been developed recently, special biocompatible soft/wet states. Particularly, DCB-SMPs combined emerging 3D-printing techniques design original shapes subsequently complex recovery. This review has summarized recent research studies about based on including hydrogels, introduction new using them. Last but not least, advantages/disadvantages analyzed via polymeric structures future development trends in this field predicted.
